The Feldenkrais Method is taught in group lessons (Awareness through Movement®) and individual lessons (Functional Integration®).
Awareness through Movement®
In ATM® class, you are verbally guided through a carefully designed sequence of movements, which you explore on your own. Each lesson creates a relaxing environment in which you learn to melt away habitual tensions, relieve stress and refine a specific movement function, such as walking, reaching, bending or twisting.
The practitioner uses skillful, supportive, gentle hands to create a
sense of safety, maintain supportive contact and gain the cooperation of
the unconscious, while introducing new movements in small, easy,
available increments. The individual session is highly individualized
to cater for a wide range of clients, from people with severe movement
limitations or injury, to people who simply wish to minimize the impact
of long hours working on a computer.
FI® works by telling the nervous system it can just let go. It's a wonderful and rare kind of relaxation that is deeply satisfying.
